A TECHNICAL REPORT OF COVID-19 DEATHS IN MANJUNG DISTRICT, 2021: A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY

The peak of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the Manjung district occurred in 2021. Objective: This technical report is to use descriptive analysis to confirm the risk factors for Covid-19 mortalities as well as to observe its vaccination effect over it. The specific group at risk of dying are people over 60, male, having comorbid and being unvaccinated. Certainly, vaccination — primarily for the death-prone classes somewhere in the range of 70 and 90 years old where around 98% of deaths have happened until recently — was a colossal element in controlling mortality. Manjung District is a district located in the southwestern area of the malay states of Perak, Malaysia. Manjung District (Lumut, Beruas, Sitiawan, Pengkalan Baru and Lekir) consists of 5 Mukims. The main urban and administrative centre of the district is Seri Manjung which consists of numerous small towns such as Lumut, Sitiawan, Ayer Tawar, Pantai Remis and Beruas.

The biggest Royal Malaysian Navy Base which approximately shelter 20 thousand personnels and their family and staffs are also located in Lumut. Of the 203,131 population of Manjung to date in 2021 (according to JPN(i) Peninsular Malaysia), the majority is in working age reaching up to 64.6% from ages between 15 years and above to secondary school up till ages 64 years old The sex ratio is nearly balanced.

Like much of Malaysia, the Covid-19 pandemic struck Manjung in 2020, where it was not until 2021 that a major outbreak occur with five peaks of incidence rate (IR). Epid-week 30 and ending at 45. In the year 2021, it has to date a total of cases recorded were around 12599. The maximum weekly count observed was 1204 cases at week 38. It was concluded from this some technical analysis of the paper, that the risk for death with increasing age (especially those over 60), Male gender, Unemployed status, Comorbidity and Vaccination Status. This correlates with a meta-analysis by Pijls et al, which states that; 4, 59 studies including 36.470 patients in the analyses involving death risk were observed to be higher amongst men than women. Analyses also found that patients instead 70 years of age had an increased mortality risk as well.

Indicate that patients were predominantly male and over 60 years old, as well as the age of the mortality.

The mean age of the participants was 64.01 years (±SD 14.91 years).

The base mortality rate among the three major race in Manjung was also similar. Because the population sizes are smaller, higher rates among foreigners and other races are relative. This is also reflected by Esai Selva et. al who stated that, therefore, ethnicity was not a risk factor for death. but also points out that socio-economic status is NOT a risk.

However, this paper did not explore further the socio-economic factor.

Nevertheless, the risk of dying stage of life way further down — than systemic issues that economic status is usually attributed to the accessibility, the availability of health services to patients, rather than disease causative per say.

Similarly, we find in this paper parallel findings to those shown by a study in Mexico. Similarly, they also observe that those with comorbidities possess higher risks of death particularly in the case of being male, age range and most crucially obesity and also type-2 diabetes as well as hypertension.

Despite higher 1st dose coverage, the high transmissibility of delta variant led to peak and subsequent incidence of Covid-19 numbers. Nevertheless, the more second dose coverage increase the more reduction effect were higher mentions that the vaccination of health care workers was corresponding to a big fall in COVID-19 cases in consistent with an effect of vaccination on having to reroute back towards the rest of population too.

In a study 12 states that increasing vaccination returning to pre coverage quicker even a pandemic society in non turnout of a paediatric vaccine. Manjung was STILL not conducting paediatric vaccination yet in 2021.

Reinforces the identification made by Marziano.

Covid-19 vaccination greatly reduces death rates, particularly in the at-risk population. This is reflected in the descriptive results presented here and from a study of Wise13 death rates from in home care for the elderly Wise explains.Once vaccination rates were higher, the use of drop-in centres fell by 62% In addition to this study also wise reports about another studies saying U.S. hospitalization rates went down as more elderly received the vaccine. In the same work, early-life data presented by Jabłońska 14 indicate a high efficacy of protection against death due to Covid-19 (survival rate reached up to 72%).

From the analysis, men, those older than age 60 years, and the unvaccinated characterise priority areas in this context, together with need for further attention related to comorbid factors. It is about weeding them out from contact tracing and reaching out to vaccinate them. Another way to identify these populations of individuals is through the different types of non-communicable disease registrys. These included the registries including diabetic, hypertension and asthma registries, etc., taken from outpatient departments at the clinic and hospital. Through a proactive approach to identification of these risk groups, preventive measures can provide protective buffers thus reducing mortality risk.

More studies are essential to determine the actual clinical risk factors especially in relation to comorbid types that actually increases the risk of mortality.

Coral represents colonies of corals, small sessile organisms similar to anemones, which through their activity secrete a shell of calcium carbonate characteristic for each species; While it remains on the site even after the death of the animal, another polyp will establish itself on this surface and thus expand its colony. The very sensitive coral reef ecosystem only exists in tropical areas, with warm water all year long, the temperature between 20 and 28° C, shallow light rich waters poor in nutrients but abundant on corals exclusive habitats so these cannot be found under depths of 30 meters. Corals feed in two ways: first, they capture with the help of eight tentacles small particles of organic matter from the water, both vegetable and animal origin; second method is compensatory, the corals have a very strong symbiotic relationship with a genus of photosynthesizing algae that expand inside their tissue therefore corals are able to live in nutritionally depleted waters. But corals, like humans, have altered the environment and yielded a very high-energy biome with lots of biodiversity; coral reefs are among the most speciose ecosystems on Earth.
